On Saturday we were invited by our friends over at I Want One Of Those to attend a gig by the legendary Bob Dylan at the 02 Arena in London.
Whilst we’re the first to admit we’re not hardcore Bob fans and we don’t take to the streets wearing “Bob Rules!” t-shirts, we caught up with the latest and greatest Bob songs during the week on Spotify and were quite looking forward to the concert given we at least recognised some of his songs during our office research.
A visit to the capital is always a novelty for us given our Peterborough location and Boris Johnson didn’t fail to deliver in adding to our experience. Having struggled out to Greenwich on a criminally inadequate rail-replacement bus service, Surely the legendary Bob wouldn’t fail us with his performance?!?
I think the Telegraph said it best in their review of the event:
“Dylan, plainly, is just trying to keep himself interested. In that light, his decision to play nothing whatsoever from Together Through Life was unfathomable – all the more so, since he and his able five-piece combo sparked into life while tackling newer material, such as Rollin’ and Tumblin’, Thunder on the Mountain, and ‘Til I Fell in Love with You.
With neither big screens nor a single word of between-song banter to engage the crowd, this lurching performance left the room stone cold, only to be picked up by a faltering take on Like a Rolling Stone, and, in the encore, All Along the Watchtower.”
The legendary Bob Dylan had unfortunately faltered out ….
Looking back though, it was a great night and only IWOOT could have managed to turn a dour concert into a great event in the way they did.
Having arrived slightly before the other guys I propped the bar up and watched as O2 security scanned through IWOOT’s toys and robots they had bought to entertain their guests for the night, the security guards faces as the I-Sobot went through the x-ray was priceless.
Having determined we were no threat to security we were whisked through the backstage of the O2 to a champagne reception in our very plush private bar. The mix of champagne, beer, canapes and gadgets seemed to work perfectly and the IWOOT and O2 staff looked after us all very well.
So a Huge thanks to all the IWOOT guys, Joe and his wife, Everyone from Affiliate Window, The guys at Artemis8, Julian’s friends and everyone else I’ve (unintentionally) missed off this list for making it a great night.
I had further exploits on the way home with one of the members of my team having drank far too much beer for her own good, but it would be harsh for me to name and shame her … wouldn’t it Kelly Frew … :o)

We couldn’t help but be impressed with England’s performance at the weekend. We were lucky enough to witness a decent England performance on the pitch (albeit against a second rate Slovakia team who barely bothered to turn up), but was also pleasantly surprised to see the FA.com had put some thought into their email communications.
For those that missed it, the Slovakia game was turned into a bit of a PR stunt to unveil the new England football kit. The team paraded out of the tunnel in what we’re told we have to call their official “anthem jackets”, to unveil a new retro look football kit.
Exactly 18 minutes after the unveiling, we received an email from the FA.com promoting the kit and allowing us to buy on pre-order. “So what?” we can hear many of you cry, well the simplicity of this campaign is email marketing at its best.
They didn’t wait until Monday morning when they had returned to work after the weekend to whip the email out like we’ve witnessed a number of retailers do this morning. 18 minutes after we’d seen the shirt on screen, we’d been given the opportunity to buy it and if we hadn’t been working so closely with a sports retailer who we’re hoping to get a freebie from, we probably would have been reaching for the credit card.
Good marketing is quite often about using common sense, this was simplicity at its best.
On-line football shirts retailer Subside Sports, cited a focus on delivering positive ROI campaigns as a critical factor in their decision to renew their SEO contract with natural search agency, The Little Search Company.
By extending the successful partnership which began in 2008, Subside Sports have confirmed that The Little Search Company will build upon the existing search engine optimisation strategy and help plan and implement campaigns for upcoming shirt launches in 2009.
Working with the retailer’s in-house marketing team, The Little Search Company will be responsible for further developing the company’s organic search campaign in the UK, France, Germany and USA.
“We are extremely pleased to have retained Subside Sports as a client and feel this is testament to the positive results that we have achieved for them in quite a short period of time. 2009 presents a number of great opportunities for the retailer, with the launch of the new England football shirt in April and the World Cup just around the corner,” said Paul Smith, Managing Director at The Little Search Company.
The Little Search Company have secured a sought after contract with leading gifts and gadgets retailer, I Want One Of Those. This partnership sees The Little Search Company driving forward the companies online natural search strategy, boosting further traffic to this successful retailing site, whilst raising the profile of the brand within the search engines.
With an annual company turnover of 13 million pounds, I Want One Of Those’ Online Marketing Manager, Julian Moskov knows how important it is for IWOOT business to maximize the expertise of The Little Search Company to remain a leading online competitor. “I am confident that by contracting The Little Search Company to manage an extensive ongoing SEO campaign, we will continue to grow and develop our online activity and create further awareness and appeal around our reputable brand.”
This partnership continues to develop The Little Search Company’s reputation for being the dynamic and innovative choice of established leading brands to manage their SEO strategies and search engine marketing.

With the Champions League back in full swing, sales of shirts for the remaining teams are also going well.

This weekend we moved office to accommodate the growing business. Aside from the usual problems of broadband not working, security alarms randomly going off and the debates over who gets the biggest office, everything went quite smoothly.
We have to admit we are quite pleased with ourselves to have found such a great building to be able to move into. It’s certainly a step up from working from the 2 bedroom flat and then our “box room” office. “Fairview” is the new location of The Little Search Company, full address and photographs:
